It seems as if the drivers are indeed not available yet. Asus just let me know that this is how the driver software works:
They get the drivers from other manufacturers (i.e. Realtek in this instance (the newest driver from Realtek IS available)) and then individually modify them for their specific models. Since they release so many models, it takes some time to get all the modifications re-done to match Win 10. They started with the newest models first and are working backwards. Once they are able to modify the drivers for the k73e, they will update THIS page and you can download them from there.
So really we are just waiting for them to get around to it. At the moment they are a bit busy with fixing all the minor bugs on the other drivers so there are going to be a few of us out of the Win 10 loop for a while.
Especially if you got your laptop in say, 2012, where three years of models have come out since.
I will post on this link immediately when I notice they are up and I am also getting a call from Asus when they are finished.
Guess we have some time, Thanks for your guys help.
Going to leave this unanswered because it is NOT fixed and is a long term issue that will be sorted in the future. Will mark as answered once the updates are completed.

I got my laptop in 2012 (K93Sv, 2011 yr model). Unfortunately, Asus haven't released even Win8 (released in October, 2013) drivers for the model. =( I hope you will be more lucky.

Wow-wow, guy, take it easy. I have 100th level support magic skills, therefore sometimes unsupported hardware configuration becomes unofficially supported. But if there are no drivers for some OS, you generally should say hello to hardware vendor. OS vendor cannot support every hardware. Sad but true.

This makes sense. However, the fact that Asus is selling this model as an advertisement to 'Upgrade to Windows 10!' is a bit sleezy. It doesn't work with it. Why are you selling it as a market ploy? That is what is making this all a bit annoying.

I ain't selling anything. =) And hardware vendors' spam about Win10 without it's actual support makes me sad. =( And breaks the very Win, BTW. =))

And I say you hello once again. Do you know strange things? I'll tell you about one more thing now. Things went bad and made me reinstall OS. I disabled EFI boot in BIOS... And guess what? Yeah, you are absolutely right: I got sound working out of box. The drivers seem to fail on EFI abstraction layer... xD

Hi,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

Please answer these questions to understand the situation better,

1. Did you reinstall Windows 10?

2. After reinstall have you installed all pending updates and also updated all device drivers?

Try to install latest Chipset driver from the manufacture web site.

I suggest you to update all the drivers and check if that helps. If that issue persist please uninstall and reinstall latest drivers available in manufacturer website.

  1. Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
  2. Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.
  3. Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

Please reply us with these information to help you better.

Thank You
Anup karkal

Dear Anup Karkal, could you explain me what it is for? I just told about one thing: when I installed Win 10 using EFI, I had no sound with symptoms described by topic starter. After I disabled EFI all things went good. And nothing else. But if you think it would be useful, here I've done:

Asus K73e Driver Downloads

1) Cleared the entire HDD and converted it into GPT using diskpart.

2) Disabled EFI boot in BIOS.

3) Installed build 10576 from USB flash drive.

Sound worked like a charm BEFORE I even connected to Internet.

And yes, I'd installed the same build from the same drive a couple hours before this cool story using EFI and sound was broken.

Hope I helped you.
