The PN-2’s replacement has a little fewer features than its predecessor. Gone is the stereo in and outputs and gone is the panning functionality. Instead the TR-2 is a pure tremolo pedal. It has a Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) that can be gradually adjusted between square and triangular wave forms and this makes for a wide spectrum of tremolo sounds.
While this serial number decoder was developed to date Boss compact pedals, it should date most Roland and Boss products made from late Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). 1971 302 CID V-8 (4V) BOSS, G. 351 CID V-8 (2V), H Last Six Digits Represent the basic production number. Starting Code, Engine. Roland then introduced a new format for their serial numbers. Based on this serial number format my older Roland equipment is dated: Roland JP-4, serial number 135510, 5510th one made and manufactured in December 1981. Boss DR-55, serial number 093700, 3700th one made and manufactured in August 1981.

I don’t believe that Roland had a systematic serial number / date system, so it is sometimes tough to date the amps. It’s in the date range of whenever they were made (Not much help). Basically after the initial JC120 and in parallel with the JC120H, before being replaced with the JC90.
Boss serial number decoder., 06:09 AM I was cruising around Analogman's site and I saw a link I hadn't noticed before - it takes you to a Boss serial number decoder site - type in your pedal's serial number, and out pops the month and year it was made.
If you have any date information that I am missing or a link to a manual that I don't have for this item please contact me and I will add it to my Roland database. Back to the Roland serial number decoder.
